The luminous full moon filtered through the willow trees, creating chops of light displayed on a sandy clearing. Sarah Ghostshard gingerly tiptoed through the damp forest’s low lying branches and fallen leaves. She came to a sudden stop, as soon as she noticed a clearing in the midst of a few willow trees. She stood in the darkness, and fixing her eyes on the light, she subconsciously started to walk towards it while unaware of the gash that stung her right eye. She winced as a sudden crack of leaves echoed behind her. A mysterious figure poured into the clearing, and in ragged breathes of insanity, it let out a bone-chilling laughter. “AHAHAHAHA! How did you ever manage to find this place! You know that-“a snicker intereupted it’s own sentence, and it continued to cackle. Sarah shifted her feet in discomfort as an ice chill was sent down her back.

The figure’s piercing blue eyes faded into a blood red, and the maniacal laughter ceased to continue. “So, Sarah Ghostshard, did you capture the souls back that you promised?” Its low tone sent a wave of silence into the air. Slowly, with being’s eyes on her every move, she slid her arm into her backpack and grabbed a bloodstained jar out. The figure let out a devilish grin in pleasure. “Perfect” It murmured, and in less than a second, the jar appeared clutched in the being’s hands. It observed the jar with uncertainty, and a nanosecond after, it showed her a nod of satifaction. “You have done well, Sarah, very well.” It opened the jar and let the pitiful wisps of the dead fly out, only to be engulfed by a shadowy arm that stretched out behind him and covered up the light. The figure turned around and frowned. “Oh, yes, your reward. It almost slipped my mind.” Sarah sensed uneasiness in its voice as it spoke. The being closed its eyes and reopened them, letting out a heavy sigh.

She reached for her wand in her bag as it uncovered its mask from it’s face. A paralyzing glance shot at her, and she struggled to look away. The being stared into her soul, and prodded around her mind until it found what it was looking for. The pressure was released from her, and she let out a caterwaul of pain, throwing her head back. She landed on her back, and a stomach churning snap followed. Blood sprayed into the air, staining the ground around her crimson. It started to pool from her mouth as her limp body was laid on her side. The being’s eyes glinted a dissatisfactional green as it retreated into the dark forest.

“Word of advice, never trust Shadow-beings.” It muttered under it’s breath.

“Oh dear, wake up miss, wake up!” Came a voice outside of her mind. Arms clutched her shoulders as the person began to shake her softly. “Why not just give her mouth to mouth? It’s the only time you’d get to kiss a girl, why not take the chance?” Came another voice in sarcasm. “Shut up Chris!” he yelled as he threw a fireball at the guy behind him. Chris dodged his fireball in a quick movement and scooted away from where the fireball landed. “Temper, temper, Jason.” Jason shot a ‘are you kidding me?’ look at him, and continued on the girl. “Come on, miss, wake up!” He prodded, and in annoyance, Sarah turned around and groaned, like she was in bed. “Bahahahahaha! You sure are a womanizer!” Chris continued.

Sarah opened an eye. “I swear to Bartleby, I ask myself, ‘why am I even friends with you?’ every once in a while.” Jason shot back. Sarah ignored the mindless chatter between the two of them and sluggishly started repacking her bag up, readying homeward. Jason noticed her getting ready to leave, and he turned away from Chris and went to her. Chris mouthed the words ‘love birds’ to him, and he retorted with a stern look.

“Where are you going, like that?” He asked. Sarah tried to ignore him and focus on her trip, but she couldn’t with all his questions. She finally snapped. “I’m going home, and why do my issues concern you?” Jason blushed and rubbed the back of his neck. “Well I” he gulped as she stared at him. “I-I saw you passed out on the ground. There was allot of blood, and I didn’t think that anyone else would help you if you just stayed there alone in a forest.” She paused and loosened her glare at him. His cheeks were still a bright red. “So, if I may ask, what’s your name? My name is Jason.” She bit back a harsh comment, and replied calmly. “My name is Sarah, nice to meet you.” He pulled out a friend’s list device and clicked on her name, and Sarah couldn’t help but smile. “So… need a ride home?” he asked.
“No thanks, I can always just use my device to get there.”
He coughed in discomfort.  “Oh yeah, that’s right. Well, I guess, catch you later..?”
“Yeah”
“Okay, see ya.”
“Bye”
He clicked on a button on his device that teleported him away. She did the same.

Sarah arrived home and threw herself onto the bed. Her neck still hurt from last night, but it had seemed to feel a bit better when she woke up with the two boys staring at her.
“WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN!!?!?!?” said Gummy, her pet Fragmented Dragon. He bounced around her feet and nudged her ankle. “I’m STARVING!!!” It wailed.

Sarah found out that Gummy could talk when he was first hatched. In fact, his first word was ‘food’; so, you can already guess how much he loves food. She reached into her bag and pulled out a gummy Firecat. She handed it to him and he gobbled it down in a matter of two seconds.

Sarah curled up in her bed and tried to take a nap, but the sleep wasn’t peaceful.
